AN ODE TO THE 1975

IMAGES SOURCED FROM TUMBLR

This post is something a little bit different, but because I've recently made the decision to adapt this blog into more of a lifestyle kind of genre, as opposed to just beauty, I think it's quite fitting. Music plays such an important part in everyone's lives that I think it's important to share things your loving and bands/artists you are really enjoying, as you could really open someone else's eyes to that sound, which truly is something amazing.

That being said, I wanted to share with you one of my recent obsessions…this post is for anyone who has yet to come across the amazing band that are The 1975. If you have not yet heard their music, I urge you to listen to the track I have posted below, Girls.

The band are from the UK and last year rose to massive fame with their debut album, The 1975, grabbing the number 1 spot on it's release in September. I've been a huge fan since then, and their music really is something different, something that's hard to describe. It just makes me happy, which is the main thing. The lyrics are beautiful and I literally love every single track on the album, which is something that is quite rare for me!

Trust me, just give them a listen. I can assure you, you won't regret it. Though I will say, prepare to become hooked and sucked into the mysterious world and mind of the incredibly talented and intelligent lead singer Mr Matthew Healy - you have been warned…

TAG: MY BEAUTY URGES

Over the weekend I saw Lily create this little beauty tag which I thought might be fun to try out.
It's all about the beauty trends you urge to try, which is quite easy for me as I am constantly trolling through image sharing sites looking for inspiration (it's one of my favourite hobbies!). Quite often though I'll see something I love the look of but can't quite bring myself to try out personally, and that's exactly what this tag is about! Here they are...

1. HAIR CHALK
This is something that I really am on the borderline of trying at some point this year. I just think hair chalks look so cool! The idea of being able to add some colour to your hair really excites me as it's something a little different. And the fact they're wash in, wash out is seriously tempting…

2. DEEP PURPLE LIPS
OK, this isn't as out there as I'm sure some people would imagine. It's actually a trend that's become quite mainstream recently and can actually be quite wearable. I have dabbled in it a little (more to come on that soon) but I have to say, I've never wholly embraced the whole deep, berry purple lip. It's never really suited me at all. I envy those of you who can pull off MAC's Rebel without a bat of an eyelid. I just wish I was brave enough to wear it anyway and stick two fingers up to anyone who questioned me!

3. GEL MANICURES
This is something that is a constant battle for me. I do not have natural nails. I have tried time and time again to grow them, however years of acrylic abuse has meant they are weaker than weak. Which means it is a damn right pain to grow them as they just split and break off all the time! However, one of my resolutions is to wean myself off the acrylics, grow my nails to a substantial length and have a gel manicure. Mark my words, this WILL be the year my natural nails come out to play…

What are your biggest beauty urges?

A NEW YEARS RESOLUTION

IMAGES SOURCED FROM TUMBLR AND WE HEART IT

I don't know about you but I've never really been one to make New Years resolutions. It's just never really been me. In the past I've never really had any incentive to make any or anything that really inspired me to want to change anything in my life in any drastic way.
However, this year for some reason that was different. As I welcomed 2014 with open arms my head was suddenly filled with all these thoughts about things I'd like to change in my life this year. These thoughts varied, from the shallowest tiny changes to more heartfelt and meaningful things I want to focus on this year.

I'm not going to share with you all of my resolutions as I think they're quite personal, however I thought I would share with you one of my main, more shallow ones (kind of), and that's to shake up my style a little bit.

Again, this isn't anything too drastic. I'm not saying I want to morph myself in Alexa Chung or Fearne Cotton and become the most edgy, stylish person on the planet. I just want to more so concentrate on expressing myself through what I wear. For too long I've collected beautiful imagery inspiration through photo sharing websites such as tumblr, and for too long have I lusted after the stylish outfits scattered across my dashboard. And then I thought to myself why am I collecting these photos and doing nothing with them? Why am I just lusting after what my style could look like? So I made a conscious decision to change thoughts and words into actions and invest some time and money into defining my own personal style.

My vow is to no longer hide behind 'safe' and 'classic' clothing that's easy to throw on at 6.30am on a weekday morning. Instead, I'm going to try and work on creating a wardrobe that I'm proud of, one that reflects my personality and ultimately, makes me happy. Because isn't that just what it's all about?

What are your new years resolutions for 2014?

CHRISTMAS BEAUTY WISHLIST

I don't know about you but I tend to find people are less accustomed to buying beauty gifts for their loved ones around Christmas time. I can understand this to a point as there are so many beautiful gifts out there nowadays to cater to all price ranges, but for me, beauty products always take pride of place on my wish list, especially this time of year! And the first thing I think of to buy people is always related to beauty in some way too, whether they like it or not my friends and family often unwrap something picked by me from the thousands of temptations on offer at Feel Unique.

So that being said, I thought I'd share with you the more luxurious picks have made it on to my Christmas wishlist this year…
